Lynn Harris, Principal

Greetings,

My name is Lynn Harris, and I am so excited to be a part of the San Augustine Middle School family and serve as your new principal. Our school community exhibits dedicated, talented members who are committed to doing what is in the best interest of our students.  As the instructional leader, the SAMS staff and I will continue the practice of putting students first, and work diligently to ensure their success.

Ingrained in education and leadership, my professional career spans over 30 years including 7 years of administrative experience. I have previously served as leader, general education teacher, dyslexia teacher, Texas Reading First Coach, TAP master teacher, instructional specialist, assistant principal, and principal in several districts beginning in Beaumont ISD.  After serving in a few east Texas districts, I relocated to north Texas to work in Grand Prairie and Arlington ISD, before being blessed to come to San Augustine last year as assistant principal at the elementary school.

I hold a bachelor's degree, specializing in reading, from Lamar University and a master's degree in Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University, along with an ESL (English as a Second Language) certification.  All of these accomplishments have afforded me the opportunity to teach and learn from many students and stakeholders.  I knew at an early age that I wanted to be a positive role model and to make a difference in the lives of others, especially children. I am truly grateful to continue my dedicated service in the San Augustine ISD.

In addition to my professional achievements, my greatest accomplishment is my family.  My husband and I have two wonderful daughters and their families.  Our oldest daughter Jana and Rev. Brian Bass are parents of our beautiful grandchildren, Keilan, Kayla, and Sophia.  Our youngest daughter Ed' Lisa Harris is the mother of my beautiful grandchildren, Cheyenne and Joseph Jr.  As a parent, I always want what is best for my children and will work tirelessly to ensure your children have the best possible learning experiences.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the new  principal for SAMS and look forward to meeting our children, teachers, parents, and community members.  Our theme this year - "Make IT Matter at San Augustine Middle School" is a reminder of our determination for success.  My door is always open to you, and I sincerely welcome your input and support.  Please feel welcome to join in all that we will accomplish together for our children, and I look forward to celebrating our collective success this school year.

Kind regards,
Lynn Harris
