SAISD - January Students of the Month


ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:

The Pre-K student of the month for January is Kolten Ham.  Kolten is the son of Ryan and Kristian Ham. Kolten is in Mrs. Sylvia Nielson and Mrs. Jackie White’s class. He knows all of his upper case letters and identifies numbers 1 through 10 and knows his shapes and colors. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and going to see his Granny and Papaw. Kolten is a joy to have in class!

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for January is Yahir Gomez-Castro. Yahir is the son of Veronica and J. Richardo Gomez. After school he enjoys playing and being outside. When he grows up he would like to be a real man. Yahir wants you to know that he is a good boy! He is in Marilyn Steptoe’s class.

The 1st grade Student of the Month for January is Londyn Wilson. Londyn is the daughter of Shenekka and Michael Freeman.  She is a very sweet young lady, who works hard and is very polite and respectful. Londyn is in Ms. Billie Jo Bellamy’s class.

The 2nd grade Student of the Month for January is J’Nalyah Taylor.  J’Nalyah is the daughter of Tim Taylor. J’Nalyah is a big sister and a little sister. She enjoys her time to herself, she likes to go to her room and play with her toys. When she gets older she would like to be a cheerleader.  J’Nalyah is in Mrs. Jenny Tanner’s class.

The 3rd grade Student of the Month for January is Sophie Yanez. Sophie is the daughter of Jackie Carmona and Juan Antonio Yanez.  Sophie enjoys electronics and when she gets older she would like to be a teacher. Sophie is in Jennifer Cecil’s homeroom.

The 4th grade Student of the Month for January is Nevaeh Bluford.  Nevaeh is the daughter of Chasity Maxie and Charles Bluford. Nevaeh is a sweet young lady who gets along with everyone, she is a hard worker and does well in all her subjects. Neveah is in Mrs. Maureen Carlton’s homeroom.

The 5th grade Student of the Month for January is Dayami Salazar. Dayami is the daughter of Kelia Diaz and Eduardo Salazar.  She is the oldest of 3 girls. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, and playing with her sisters. When she gets older she would like to be an artist and a photographer. Dayami is in Mrs. Jennifer Morton’s homeroom.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

The 6th grade Student of the Month for January is Alexander Niniz-Fabian.  Alexander is the son of Maria Fabian and Guilermo Niniz. His teacher said, “Alexander is a very good student and a hard worker. He has a vibrant personality and is a joy to be around. Fabian enjoys drawing, his favorite subject is math, and his favorite food is pizza.  He plans to study art and mathematics in college.”

 

The 7th grade Student of the Month for January is Jaime Mendoza- Moreno.  Jaime is the son of Jaime Mendoza and Maria Moreno. His teacher said, “Some of his favorites are Gatorade and pizza. Although Jaime has dreams of attending college, he is uncertain of his plans after graduation at this time. Considering Jaime’s hard work and dedication, I am certain he will succeed in whichever career path he chooses.”


The 8th grade Student of the Month for January is Johni'ya Smith. Her teacher said, “Johni'ya has had tremendous growth this school year. She is always very well prepared and eager to learn. She works extremely well with others and is a joy to have in class. Johni'ya's favorite colors are black and red. Spirit Bear is her favorite book and she loves pizza, volleyball, and dancing. Her favorite subject is Tech Apps.”  Johni’ya plans to attend SFA and become a nurse.

HIGH SCHOOL:

The 9th Grade Student of the Month for January is Jasmine Martin.  Jasmine is the daughter of LaQuisha Martin and Dwight Martin.  Her favorite subject is English I. Her teacher said, “She is a member of the lady wolves’ basketball team and a devoted member of her church. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.  Jasmine plans to attend the University of Texas after graduation for a degree in Nursing.”  Jasmine enjoys cheering, being on her phone, and shopping whenever she can.

 

The 10th Grade Student of the Month for January is Cannon Smith.  Cannon is the son of Randa Smith and Nay Smith. His teacher said, “He is active in the FFA, UIL Computer Science and Band. Some of his favorite things are playing video games, hunting, and working with Mr. Schmieder with the school technology equipment. Cannon plans to attend Texas Tech University to become a computer programmer.”

 

The 11th grade Student of the Month for January is Paula Landor. Paula is the daughter of Tana Faulk and Tim Taylor.  Her teacher said, “Paula is polite and always willing to help others while staying engaged in doing her best work. Paula is a great student! Paula’s plan after graduation is to join the Air Force.”  Paula’s favorite subject is English. She is involved in Student Council, power lifting, tennis, yearbook, and Interact. Paula enjoys being on her phone and babysitting whenever she can.

 

The 12th grade Student of the Month for January is Makena Radican. Makena is the daughter of Jason and Kasey Radican.  Her teacher said, “Makena is Senior Class President, Vice President of Student Council, and Vice President of Interact Club. In addition to participating in varsity athletics, Makena is a member of National Honor Society, Yearbook, and UIL Academics. Makena takes tremendous pride in her classwork, never turning in anything less than 100%. She is intrinsically motivated, thrives when challenged, and demonstrates self-discipline far beyond her years. Despite her heavy extracurricular calendar, Makena takes great care to ensure all of her responsibilities are met. Outside of school Makena enjoys playing basketball, watching Netflix, and spending time with her family. After high school she plans to attend Texas A&M University where she will major in nursing.”
